They are doing much better being the "affordable" alternative. They know what they would have to do to steal folks from Yamaha Montage, Kronos, Stage 3 and they aren't willing to invest in that price point and feature set at the moment. I don't believe they are selling like sub $1k synths. I think Roland is going to ride the pro/player instruments for a while. Stuck in an FA-07 between the 06 and 98 with a proper synth semi weight action (minus the after touch). They also refreshed the FA line with a firmware update rather than an "all new" Fantom. The V-Piano is their best tech (theoretically) which has now trickled down. The RD-2000 is their game plan for now.Īnd it's solid, imho. Roland isn't going to update the RD line for years now. I'm unable to get the external speakers I want at the moment, kinda tapped out from the piano purchase. I tried boosting it in Audacity but it sounded like garbage.Īs far as my headphones go I am overall super happy with it but I do want to know if this little bit of distortion is a problem with the piano before the return period is over. Since it's not recognized as being a mic there's no built in gain setting for it in windows to mess with either. I have no idea why the signal is so dang quiet. I've tried routing the piano audio through my PC speakers using the USB connection but it's incredibly quiet, even when totally maxed out within the piano settings and from the PC end of things. I haven't got any other headphones at the moment to check whether it's just the headphones themselves but I don't notice them distorting with other sound sources.
